Red Sand Beach in Akrotiri

Red Beach Akrotiri is located about 12 kilometers from Fira. It is famous for its stunningly beautiful, unusual, and rare combination of red stone and sand with blue, turquoise, and sometimes greenish seawater. The beach is quite long but only a few meters wide. It is surrounded by steep cliffs that block the winds. There are practically no commercial and entertainment establishments on this beach - sun beds, umbrellas, and a few small kiosks where you can buy drinks and snacks.

Red Beach is located in the southern part of the island of Santorini in Greece.

How do you get to Red Beach? You can take a regular shuttle bus that follows the route to the archaeological area of Akrotiri. You will have to walk from the terminus to the beach itself - there is only one road, which is signposted. A rented car will be much faster and more convenient (the parking lot is near the beach).

From the other beaches of Santorini, pleasure boats run every half hour to take those wishing to visit the red beach. It looks beautiful and spectacular in the early morning and at sunset.
